Certified Dog Trainer – Michelle H.
About
When I was a child, we always had a dog in our family. As an adult, I got my first dog in 2001. I knew I would need the help of a qualified trainer in order to have the great experience I wanted as a new dog parent. We both learned a lot and I adopted another dog two years later. However, there were elements of the training techniques that did not resonate with me on how I wanted to treat them. I researched many schools when making my decision to become a certified trainer. The decision to attend a school which focuses on positive reinforcement as the first go-to techniques was the right one for me! I wish I knew then what I know now so that they could have benefitted from my current knowledge. At least my dog Riley is reaping those rewards, as am I, with what we’ve been able to accomplish.
I started Furkademy as an homage to my first two dogs, Sasha and Samantha. I was lucky enough to have Sasha for 16 years. We were the dynamic duo and people were amazed at our interactions with each other. I want to help people have a joyous and enriching experience in the short time we have with our fur kids.
Straight from the heart – the purple in the Furkademy logo was taken as a color sample from a photo of Sasha. I always had her in a purple harness because she was so royal. The black in the cap was taken from her fur in that same photo. The blue represents Samantha. She was a blue merle Aussie with a fae spirit and her harness was always blue. I hope I’m making my girls proud.
